The Sustainable Packaging team (SP) is looking for an experienced, driven, and analytical Business Analyst to lead a critical component of Amazon's Climate Pledge. SP sets the global strategic packaging vision to drive waste and cost reduction and contribute directly to Amazon’s Climate Pledge goals. Our products are public facing and provide a unique opportunity to interact with end customers on every order. The Ships In Product Packaging (SIPP) standards team to which this role will report owns enabling new SIPP shipment volume by analyzing the success of eligibility changes through controlled experiments.

Business Analysts are responsible for converting data into actionable business insights. They are analysis experts who leverage a variety of data platforms and analytical tools to provide timely, meaningful, and consumable information. They build deep contextual and domain knowledge. They ensure data quality and build scalable tools. They communicate findings with the most effective and influential methods.

Amazon is seeking an exemplary Business Analyst with broad technical skills to develop data visualizations and build automation solutions that drive business decision making and process improvement. The ideal candidate will draw upon advanced analytical, problem solving skills, and passion for delivering business insights and analytics. The complexity of research and skills for a Business Analyst is well beyond basic data entry and extraction. It involves design and development of automated data pipelines, sophisticated analytical modeling and intuitive data visualization. This role will directly be responsible for maintaining front end code using Python, SQL, HTML, Java, and R, or other similar coding languages. Proficiency in the aforementioned languages is not required, but an ability to be a quick learner and gain proficiency is required for a successfully candidate. This role will have high level visibility due to the nature of the toolsets being maintained, built, and the network impact of analysis conducted. This role has great exposure to a broad scope that can really help shape the future of operational fulfillment and promotes career progression.

Key job responsibilities

Specifically, the SP Business Analyst will own (1) defining hypotheses and designing experiments, including control and experiment groups and success metrics/key performance indicators, to validate hypotheses with data, (2) implementing experiments in fulfillment operations, (3) generating complex queries to retrieve and analyze large data sets using Excel and SQL to identify the impact of various factors individually and in combination, (4) designing and implementing reporting that enables stakeholders to draw conclusions leading to project completion, and (5) working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders to execute process changes. You must be comfortable deep diving large data sets, understanding complexities of fulfillment operations that impact data analysis/results, and solving problems independently. You will have high ownership of your work, as proven by a record of driving projects to their completion. You are detail-oriented, agile, with strong time management, communication, and project management skills. Finally, you are comfortable working through ambiguity and driving large-scale changes in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with fast delivery time and rapid iteration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field

  • 2+ years of business or financial analysis, product costing, procurement, or a quantitative role experience

  • 2+ years of writing SQL queries and creating business intelligence reports using Tableau, Power BI experience

  • Experience with QuickSight dashboard and visual creation

  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights

  • Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders

  • Experience building and maintaining automated forecasting models, utilizing regression or statistical methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Engineer, or another related occupation

  • Experience in Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics

  • Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Fluency in a modeling language such as Python or R

  • Experience with one or more of the statistical modeling languages/toolboxes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
