Northrop Grumman's MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) provides real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) over vast ocean and coastal regions. The aircraft can fly for more than 24 hours at a time, at an altitude above 55,000 feet and an operational range of 8,200 nautical miles. Australia is a cooperative program partner in the Triton program which consists of the US Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Northrop Grumman.

Your Role

As a dedicated Software Engineer within the MQ-4C Triton Engineering team, your primary responsibilities include software management and technical support in accordance with established engineering guidelines. You will lead activities central to DASR Part M Continuing Airworthiness Management Services (CAMO Services), focusing on software integrity and compliance. Engage in the complete lifecycle of Avionics software upgrades-from requirements analysis and system design to verification and validation. Additionally, you will develop and maintain the tools that enhance our software development lifecycle and manage data within the Software Configuration Management database.

Your role extends to reviewing and interpreting technical documentation from OEMs and NAAs, managing ITAR/EAR controlled data, and ensuring accurate updates to our Configuration & Data Management systems. You'll play a crucial role in the local and OEM approval processes for software, prepare engineering documentation for software and avionics modifications, and ensure continuous management of software configurations to meet strict airworthiness and operational standards.

About You

With an Engineering Degree in Software and at least four years of experience in the aviation industry-preferably in defence aviation-you are well-versed in Australian Defence Airworthiness Regulations and configuration management practices. Your proficiency with Configuration Management (CM) tools and your deep understanding of software engineering principles enables you to effectively tackle complex software systems within highly regulated environments.

You are proactive in your professional development, continually seeking to deepen your expertise in MQ-4C software/avionics systems and the associated maintenance frameworks. As a Software Engineer, your ability to manage detailed engineering tasks, communicate effectively with team members, and drive compliance and operational efficiency is crucial. Your role is essential in ensuring that our engineering team meets project deadlines and maintains high standards of software and system integrity, contributing directly to the operational excellence and strategic goals of our organisation.
