Job Overview:

The Associate Pipeline Engineer will be supporting Pre-FEED/FEED/EPCIC projects with design and procurement engineering/analysis activities related offshore/onshore pipeline engineering, riser and subsea tie-in spools design analysis, and preparation of MR’s/MTO’s/Data Sheets tasks in a junior level. Learns the content and application of relevant industry codes, standards, guidelines, design methods and analysis.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks related to offshore and onshore pipeline system

  • Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring.

  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.

  • Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.

  • Tender engineering support with emphasis on document review, assist with the preparation of subcontractor documents, bid evaluation and vendor selection.

  • Assist senior engineers with preparation of technical reports, design calculations, engineering analysis and interface with third parties including subcontractors and verification bodies.

  • Required to attend and prepare for project progress meetings and departmental meetings.

  • Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements.

  • Prepare sketches of detail design to guide Designers and check drawings.

  • Keep the Area Lead/ Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress and concerns.

  • Develop an awareness of costs related to own work.

  • Develop basic understanding of McDermott's business and customers it serves.

  • Develop basic knowledge of McDermott's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication and marine functions.

  • Develop advanced skills in use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Understand and apply standards and procedures.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering

  • Entry Level position or less than 1- or 2-years’ experience in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant predominantly performing detail design of offshore/onshore facilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
