Meta Public Policy Manager, Italy and Greece in Rome, Italy

Summary:

We are looking for a policy expert who can combine a passion for internet services and social networks with a deep knowledge of the political and regulatory dynamics in Italy. Successful applicants will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety and security, freedom of expression, the impact of the internet on economic growth, and new opportunities for democratic engagement.This role will be based in Rome, Italy and is a short term contract for 9.5 months.

Required Skills:

Public Policy Manager, Italy and Greece Responsibilities:

  1. Support the development and execution of strategies to achieve company goals in public policy in Italy and Greece

  2. Monitor legislation and regulatory matters affecting Meta in Italy and Greece and advise the company with respect to policy challenges

  3. Develop public policy positions with other team members at Meta

  4. Help build coalitions with other organizations to advance policy goals of Meta

  5. Advance Meta’s work within trade organizations

  6. Communicate Meta’s positions in closed-door events

  7. Advise Meta teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A degree or advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, International Relations or a related field

  2. Significant experience working on relevant policy issues – candidates with both government/politics and industry experience strongly preferred

  3. Full fluency in Italian and English is required

  4. Familiarity with working with politicians and government officials including those at the most senior levels

  5. A passionate belief in the social benefits of the Internet and Meta in particular

  6. An ability to work with cross-functional teams from a wide range of disciplines

  7. Excellent communication skills for both small meetings and large events

  8. A flexible mindset that thrives in a fast-moving environment with a strong do-it-yourself culture

  9. A track record of writing and delivering position papers, articles, speeches, and presentations on relevant topics

  10. An ability to translate between the specialist languages of technology and politics

  11. Detailed knowledge of regulatory and legislative processes at national level a further advantage
