TAYLOR COUNTY LEARNING CENTER FACILITY ADMINISTRATOR

  1. JOB DESCRIPTION :

Functions under the direct supervision of the chief juvenile probation officer. The Taylor County Learning Center (TCLC) Facility Administrator is responsible for the overall management at the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) and daily operations of the JJAEP. The Facility Administrator will also act as the Educational Program Director and will provide direct supervision of the educational staff and support staff assigned to the TCLC. The Facility Administrator will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, along with policies and procedures related to JJAEP. The Facility Administrator shall ensure compliance with all contracts with TJJD related to JJAEP and JJAEP funding.

  1. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :

**Education/Certification:

Hold a Bachelors Degree conferred by an accredited college or university certified by the State Board of Education Certification and maintain a valid Texas Teaching Certificate. Must be a U.S. Citizen, and have a valid Texas Drivers License.

Special Knowledge and Skills: **

  1. Possess experience in the field of juvenile justice working with high risk juvenile offenders, possess supervisory experience and educational experience in a school setting. Work with students from fifth grade through twelfth grades respectively
  2. Ability to understand, follow, and communicate and comply with the Texas Administrative Code 348, and JJAEP standards and all state and local policies and procedures to staff and students; Must be eligible to be certified as a juvenile probation officer and complete required mandatory training to be certified as a JPO and pass the state mandated required test for probation officer certification.
  3. Ability to work cohesively with adolescents, parents, school districts, and employees
  4. Must be of good moral character and be emotionally suited to work with high risk children and their families;
  5. Ability to remain calm and function effectively in crisis and highly stressful situations;
  6. Must have exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  7. Ability to plan and up-grade instructional materials as well as stay abreast of technological advances in the field of education;
  8. Working knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge of Skills (TEKS);

  9. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES :

Support the Taylor County Juvenile Board, Taylor County Juvenile Probation Department Administration, Taylor County, and all policies and procedures relating to the daily operations of the Taylor County Learning Center;

Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette, and personal appearance and promote the Mission Statement of the Taylor County Juvenile Justice Center;

Maintain confidentiality of all students and juveniles involved with the agency;

Annually enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with participating school districts and submit to TJJD annually no later than October 1;

Annually monitor Texas Administrative Code 348 JJAPE standards, to complete JJAEP Performance Review and revise TCLC Student Code of Conduct and Policies and Procedures. Annually submit them to TJJD no later than October 1;

Following Texas Administrative Code 348 JJAEP standards, annually complete JJAEP, Management Review and maintain documentation of the review;

Provide copies of the TJJD Performance Report to the chief juvenile probation officer, juvenile board, and superintendent of each school district that has entered into an MOU with the TCLC;
