This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. As a Senior Materials Specialist, you will apply experience and procurement knowledge to execute procurement best practices to support on time deliveries of materials. Work with internal stakeholders and suppliers, on daily tasks to support supply continuity and strategic project executions. This includes but is not limited to, detailed review and management of Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders, invoice resolution, and vendor management. This role will work with multiple functions. This is an onsite role in Alameda, CA
What You'll Do
Responsible for performing a variety of material handling duties to meet production schedules.
Secure and follow-up on supplier commitments to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Monitor day-to-day TPM’s clean-to-build communications and materials shortage reports and take actions as necessary
Expedite parts shortages and initiate corrective action to remedy material shortages.
SAP Ariba Super User responsible for end-to-end support in the purchasing function
Responsible for supporting the day-to-day sourcing of materials.
Detailed review, correction, and approval of PRs to assure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procurement policy, contract terms, & payment schedules.
Assign POs and perform PO updates in line with contract amendments or other needed revisions.
Prepare purchase requisitions on behalf of business partners, as needed.
Keep invoice discrepancies at a minimum and partner with the business, vendors & Accounts Payable to quickly resolve any that occur.
Obtain quotes and negotiate one-off purchases or volume buys.
Performs general and ad hoc project support as required.
EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related. Other degrees acceptable with procurement or purchasing experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
SAP experience.
Strong people skills, strong problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred
Provides exceptional customer service and knowledge to efficiently assist internal customers and meet corporate objectives.
Working knowledge of procurement categories and their associated G/L accounts to ensure proper coding of PRs/POs.
Exhibits high attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
Thrives to achieve goals as part of a team, but also works independently on assigned task or projects.
Must possess a high degree of integrity and the ability to accept responsibility for work activities and projects and see them through to completion
Applies acquired job skills and company policies/procedures to complete tasks
Possesses excellent communications skills, both written and oral. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when dealing with team members, our internal customers, and external parties.
Uses professional concepts and company’s policies and procedures to solve a variety of operational issues of moderate scope.
Works on assigned problems of moderate scope with analysis of situation or data
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

The base pay for this position is $83,600.00 – $167,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
