Responsibilities Serves as the Deputy Director of DLA Distribution Albany, GA responsible for planning, organizing, and directing overall logistics programs. Participates fully, with the Director, in directing and managing the work of the distribution center including the management and direction of the retail operations that supports retail customers. Analyzes and modifies plans, programs and objectives, recommending major changes to ensure the best possible level of support to the customer. Establishes and implements goals and objectives, long-range plans and internal management controls for the purpose of controlling operations, determining costs, and evaluating performance. Serves as the senior specialist on distribution management, provides expert technical advice to director and other local managers on assigned programs and matters that affect the center's programs and projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a Distribution Facilities Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time- in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Coordination and integration of numerous functions involving supply, maintenance, procurement, contract surveillance, transportation, inventory management, quality assurance, facilities and property management, and equipment as well as safety, security, and disposal. Analyzes and evaluate plans, programs and critical issues from higher headquarters that affect center operations. Physical Demands Work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. May require lifting of moderately heavy items, such as record boxes, and supplies. This requires above average agility and dexterity. Work Environment Employee is required, on a regular and recurrent basis, to visit warehouses, open storage sites, and other storage environments. During these visits employees are exposed to high noise and high or adverse weather conditions. Employee may be required to use protective equipment and follow special precautions when within some storage locations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
