What you will do:

St. Peter's Hospital is seeking a full time Anatomic Pathology Tech to join our Pathology team of dedicated healthcare professionals. Under general supervision of the section supervisor, this person is responsible for the assessing and preparing of daily work assignments. This is a clerical position in the Pathology Lab. The individual will be completing file slides, charts, answering phones, preparing slides for send out, gathering slides for conference and consultations, slide and requisition filing, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeps up to date on policies, procedures, skills, and successful completion of competency surveys in a timely manner.

  • Able to troubleshoot/problem solve minor/unusual problems in a timely manner.

  • Completes required CE.

  • Able to access and understand procedure and policy manuals within department.

  • Follows SOP for specimen storage/handling/reference lab testing.

  • Develops a basic understanding of the operation of all instrumentation/equipment used according to SOP, department policies and procedures.

  • Utilizes Copath functions to appropriately track specimens (overdue, pending logs, etc.).

  • Utilizes the system to find patient/test information and test results.

  • Assists with procedures, small projects, as necessary.

  • Completes annual review of lab safety, hazardous material, infectious control procedures.

  • Restocks supplies as required.

What you will need:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.

Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and communication skills.

Ability to multitask, work independently, and adaptable to tasks.
