Position Overview:

The LMSW Clinician ("Clinician") serves as the student’s primary clinician and provides direct treatment services to the student to resolve social and emotional issues, which impeded personal and educational competence. Attendees of this program are students who have emotional disabilities and are between the ages of 5-13 years old.

$3,000 Signing Bonus *!! This is a full-time , remote HYBRID position: M-F, 8am-4pm, with flexibility - certain functions within the role can be performed REMOTELY!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Shares responsibility for the planning and implementation of the psychosocial components of the therapeutic classroom.

  • Provides social work services to families to facilitate the student’s progress towards individual goals.

  • Provides individual counseling to students as directed by their I.E.P.

  • Provides group therapy and/or group skills development counseling to children.

  • Facilitates treatment planning meetings; completes all necessary documentation. associated with treatment plan review, including progress summary, goal/objective development, ICMP updates, etc.

  • Other position-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Organizational Relationships:

  • The Clinician reports to and is supervised by the Clinical Supervisor, Education.

  • Collaborates with the faculty of the Day Treatment Clinic and Special Education programs.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW) for New York State required

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) for New York State required

  • NYS School Social Work Certification is strongly preferred or obtained within 6 months of employment.

  • Experience within a special education school setting is preferred.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with regulatory bodies; capacity to exhibit empathy for those in need.

  • Proficiency in various computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Business Workspace Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Meet, Sheets, etc.); and secure Internet practices.

  • Experience with MAR/ AWARDS / NYS Connections, a plus!

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive data with strict confidentiality.

  • Self-motivated and engaged, with a strong attention to detail; Excellent writing aptitude.

  • Excellent organization, planning and time management skills.

  • Must be willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve.

  • Ability to pass required pre-employment background checks, to include fingerprinting, is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to write and understand the written word with special emphasis on required documentation including client progress notes and treatment plans; and to carry out written and electronic documentation as required by St. Catherine’s policy and as required by regulating agencies that have oversight responsibility for St. Catherine’s programs.

  • Ability and willingness to maintain up to date information regarding standards and mandates set by St. Catherine’s Center for Children, the New York State Education Department, the New York State Office of Mental Health, the New York State Office of Child and Family Services, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Competence to remain composed and perform well under crisis conditions, with the capacity to carry out Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) strategies.

  • Capable of relating to a culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged population. This includes but is not limited to a broad range of people with various developmental and functional levels; Capacity to exhibit empathy for those in need.

  • Ability to understand, communicate, represent and carry out the mission, values, philosophy and policies of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.

  • Ability to conduct themselves in a manner that is becoming of an employee of St. Catherine’s Center for Children.

  • Ability to organize and effectively manage, in a timely fashion, the varied tasks of the position.

  • Ability and conceptualizations necessary to embrace and work effectively within a therapeutic-based program.

  • The ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence, empowering them to solve their own problems.

  • Ability to work effectively in a shared decision-making model as a team member, which includes the capacity to listen attentively to others, to share one’s opinions and perspective, and to resolve disagreements respectfully.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and service providers or professionals.

  • The capacity to maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to assist in meeting service goals, while setting appropriate limits.

  • This position will have full and complete access to highly sensitive client Protected Health Information (PHI) in order to carry out the duties and responsibilities for this position. Therefore, the ability to meet HIPAA requirements and maintain strict client confidentiality is essential.
