Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree* and five years specialized experience. Two years of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.*Substitutions: An Associate’s degree and two years of specialized experience; J.D. or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience Specialized experience: Accounting or forensic auditing with a focus on largescale document review and investigations.

Duties Description Standard Duties:Worker Protection is the enforcement arm of the NYS Department of Labor. Two of the Worker Protection (WP) programs areas: Labor Standards who enforce wage and hour, overtime and other laws; and the Bureau of Public Work and Prevailing Wage Enforcement reviews large that enforces prevailing wage laws are required to review voluminous employment records and prepare detailed audits spanning years of worth records. Wages are compiled based on standards in the labor law as applicable to the particular employees and the nature of the employment. The Worker Protection Enforcement Auditor will be responsible for working with Worker Protection, Labor Standards, and BPW&PWE leadership to ensure consistency in wage audits throughout the state.• Review policies and procedures for wage audits for WP Investigators in Labor Standards and BPW&PWE.• Work with division supervisors and directors on documentation requirements for wage audits.• Review work of assigned staff for accuracy, adherence to schedules and compliance with applicable regulations. • Report on work to each division’s management and Worker Protection leadership.• Work with supervisors and division directors on best practices for staff and make recommendations on strategies for improved efficiency in wage audits.• Ensure Worker Protection staff adhere to department policies with respect to wage audits. • Work with training unit to develop course work, and manuals, for new investigators, senior investigators, and supervising investigators as it relates to wage audits.Preferred Qualifications: • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Law enforcement experience which includes forensic accounting or auditing and at 2 least years of supervisory field work. Civil law enforcement or criminal law enforcement will qualify.
