What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Enterprise Information Systems Group, 9740, is looking for a dynamic individual to lead and manage Department 9747 - Security Information Systems. This department performs advanced software engineering required to realize the next generation of technical software architecture for Enterprise Applications. The selected candidate is expected to develop strong partnerships with Safeguards and Security. We are seeking a forward-thinking IT leader who is technically curious, aware of industry trends, and has a reputation of leading teams to success. In addition, the selected individual must have experience with leading and developing custom applications using modern technology and processes while producing results within constrained timelines and budgets.

Enterprise Information Systems 9740 serves Sandia by providing agile, integrated, software solutions that simplify Sandia’s everyday tasks by providing holistic, modern enterprise applications and IT solutions for Sandia on behalf of the National Security Mission. We optimize information systems at the enterprise level through process and technology consolidation, simplification and standardization and in doing so, help our customers efficiently and effectively meet Sandia’s mission needs, enhance their ability to attract new mission via innovatively delivering differentiating capabilities and transforming the way operational capabilities are delivered. Core competencies of the organization include software engineering, software & system architecture, Cloud, and partnering with Sandia functions to integrate IT into their strategy.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Guide the work of the department

  • Understand the work of the organization and connect the work and expertise of the organization with an understanding of the Labs’ needs

  • Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements

  • Ensure that customer needs are satisfied through the creation of trust-based relationships

  • Apply organization knowledge and experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations

  • Oversee and manage members of the workforce, within the organization, including hiring, professional development, and assessment and performance management, consistent with the mission of the organization

  • Counsel and assist employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy contract compliance, and Sandia National Laboratories' policies or procedures to ensure compliance

    The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$149,700 - $254,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, plus 8 years of experience

  • Included in the above; 4 years of leadership experience

  • Experience leading and executing enterprise software technology projects

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Information Systems

  • Experience and knowledge of software systems research & development, software and requirements engineering and testing

  • Experience with the following Leadership competencies: Strategic Future Visioning, Develop Relationships with Business Partners and Peers, Team Building and Development, Deliver on Commitments, and Integrity and Accountability

  • Technical business development experience with proven results in building trusted partnerships, both internal and external to Sandia

  • Verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills via technical and non-technical writing and presentations, including an ability to succinctly explain complex technical concepts

  • Ability to translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to audiences outside of the organization

  • Strong teaming and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working on multi-disciplinary teams as evidenced by substantive and positive references from current or past superiors, peers, or team members

  • Ability to use computer science principles dealing with complexity, scalability, robustness, integrity, correctness, and protocols

  • Experience with information system engineering, software engineering methodologies and processes using iterative/agile methodologies such as SCRUM, SAFe, Kanban, etc. Programming experience with some of the following .Net, Angular, SQL, C++, Swift, SOA, and other languages and technologies

  • Experience with mobile software development and native apps would be helpful.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
