Job Title: Process Controls Engineers

Job Duties: The Process Controls Engineer will be responsible for the following job duties: provide process controls engineering and instrumentation support for EMD Electronics globally; develop front-end process control designs for novel chemistries starting with the design of process control architectures in close collaboration with process engineers and other engineering disciplines; supporting the design, build-up, installation, and commissioning of the plant by working with the project team and suppliers; acting as the subject matter expert in instrumentation, system integration, control-logic & programming of process automation systems; translating customer requirements into innovative and robust technical solutions; collaborating with other stakeholders including the project management team and Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms during all project phases; and performing plant automation programming (DCS/PLC/SCADA) using relevant tools, methods, and technologies. Salary range: One hundred forty-nine thousand two hundred eighty-two dollars to one hundred sixty-nine thousand two hundred eighty-two dollars per year.

Requirements: Employer requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mechatronics engineering, industrial engineering, or a closely related field and five (5) years of progressively more responsible work experience as a Process Controls Engineer (or similar occupation) performing automation/control and instrumentation engineering.

In addition, employer requires:  

  • Demonstrated ability performing DCS design, software engineering, and preparing automation standards gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability performing DCS, PLC, or SCADA plant automation programming using the following tools and methodologies: Allen Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware, or similar gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability performing safety analyses and life safety controls for the design of manufacturing facilities gained through five (5) years of experience;
  • Demonstrated ability selecting suitable instruments for specific applications, including safety and ex proof components, gained through five (5) years of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability independently interfacing with cross functional teams of process and mechanical engineers to gather technical and business requirements and implement new processes, tools, or technologies gained through five (5) years of work experience; and
  • Demonstrated ability to ascertain and implement Model Predictive Controls (MPC) or Advanced Predictive Controls (APC) systems gained through three (3) years of work experience.
  • All years of experience may be gained concurrently.

    Travel required approximately 20% of the time (15% domestic and 5% international).
