JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assure material is sourced, tooled and qualified from suppliers ensuring QDCF (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature) compliance of the purchased items - both production volume and low volume sourcing

• Interpret technical drawings and specifications as necessary to support all sourcing and supplier management of purchased parts and assemblies

• Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.

• Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods

• Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities

• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships

• Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.

• Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers

• Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements

• Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers

• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues

• Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact

• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications

• Lead efforts to develop third-party partnerships and as needed to support complete product offer to the end customer (body equipment, vehicle modifications, etc.)

• Implement strategies that support product compliance to regulations and pricing objectives

• Lead business conducted with suppliers and facilitate internal actions between supplier and the internal stakeholders

• Represent Purchasing in Project teams reporting to the Project/Program Manager (Matrix Mgt)

• Lead and support small business sourcing as required to meet contract requirements

• Source prototype parts and services as needed to support product development and testing activities

• Deliver briefs, updates and reports as needed to communicate status of key activities

• Source business support services as required for Mack Defense (Engineering, Facility Maintenance…)

• Responsible for procurement and expediting deliveries of purchased goods

• Lead disposition of non-conforming material and communicate non-conformance issues that may affect production and After Market

• Accountable to provide feedback to Project and Purchasing Management concerning risks and opportunities that could affect manufacturing operations

• Support development and continuous improvement of Purchasing and Business processes and strategies

• Conform to all required government regulations and facility clearance procedures

• Interact with Finance relating to payment terms, invoicing issues, debit & credit memos and supplier charge back

• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in Engineering preferred (mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, aerospace) or BS in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance) with demonstrated experience in understanding technical specifications, product design and manufacturing of typical components and systems used in the vehicle, heavy equipment or aerospace industries.

• Minimum 8-10 years" purchasing experience including sourcing and procurement in the vehicle, heavy equipment or aerospace industries.

• Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and practices, supplier evaluation, market conditions and strategic contract negotiation.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer software including MS Office Suite

Negotiation and influence skills to secure agreement on terms for the purchase or exchange of goods and services

• Proficient in design and manufacturing technologies, processes & practices to effectively add value through collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality and suppliers

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Flexibility to work in a fast paced, cross functional, collaborative, matrix-based, team-oriented environment

• Experience in taking the lead to secure results and accepting responsibility for personal actions, costs, and results

• Ability to reframe traditional patterns of thinking and applying new and evolving ideas, methods, designs and technologies

• Ability to champion the quality process by reinforcing the organization's vision, quality values, and quality processes and by fostering the continuous improvement of all operational and business practices

• Capability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications
