Work hours: PRN; Must be able to report to the hospital within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program required OR

· Four (4) years of experience in congregational pastoral care (not general ministry) in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree require OR

· Master’s Degree – Master’s of Divinity, Theology, or related degree from a Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)accredited theological school 72-hour degree program preferred

Experience

· 4 years without a Bachelor’s degree – 4 years of experience in congregational pastoral care required OR

· With a Bachelor’s degree – no previous experience required AND

· Experience in congregational or hospital setting preferred AND

· 1 unit of CPE from an ACPE-accredited center (must be completed within 2 years of employment) required

What You Will Do

· Patient care: Provide professional pastoral and spiritual care to patients and their loved ones, using excellent listening, observational, assessment, interventional and written documentation skills.

· Assess patient and family spiritual resources and vulnerabilities, offering corresponding interventions.

· Document care in electronic medical record, using Pastoral Care standardized processes.

· Ability to respond to calls within 10 minutes and arrive within 30 minutes. Provide on-call report when called into the hospital.

· Support Pastoral Care Department: Report payroll exceptions promptly. Participate in Pastoral Care staff meetings when requested . Be knowledgeable of and comply with all Pastoral Care Department policies and procedures. Complete required Pastoral Care Department training and any MyTalent modules when assigned.

· When providing in-house coverage, participate in the ritual life of the hospital, e.g., FINAL SALUTEs, memorial services, award ceremonies, and other similar celebrations and special events within the hospital.
