Title: Water Truck Driver
Summary
The Water Truck Driver is responsible for transporting water to various locations on a specified route. The incumbent is required to load and unload water, as well as drive long and short distances. The Water Truck Driver must possess the ability to work independently and deliver the load on-time and in a safe manner that complies with regulations. The incumbent is responsible for the cargo, ensuring it is being handled appropriately and is being transported and handled in the safest possible ways while ensuring efficient practices. This person is also be required to know, understand and abide by all applicable legislation, including the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
Job Duties:
Must be able to work evenings as this is an overnight position.
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, the application of safe practices, and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations
Ensure that all safety equipment, including personal protective equipment, is accessible and in good working condition
Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and the load, ensuring safety and road worthiness
Comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, occupational health and safety, the transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions
Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
Perform basic maintenance as required
Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable federal regulations
Record and maintain required documentation, including driver logbook, bills of lading, etc. by manual or electronic means
Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers, both verbally and in writing
Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks
Understand procedures and be prepared for any spills
Provide feedback to Operations Manager regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. This may include daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
Train others when required
Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Class G driver's license
Minimum 1-2 years of experience driving
Computer and smart phone literate
Proven ability to work safely and efficiently
Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
Strong work ethic
Must be able to work independently
Work Conditions
Manual dexterity required to use and use of peripherals for driving
Overtime as required
Weekend work may be required
Ability to lift 70 pounds
