**POSITION TITLE: Job Developer/Job Coach
**WORK HOURS : Vary according to client needs and staff schedules.
SUPERVISOR: Job Development Coordinator/LWSS **TEAM: Work Services CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Salary
**GENERAL FUNCTION: The Nine Star's Job Developer/Job Coach I work intensively with Work Services clients to identify their specific employability needs. Job Developer/Job Coach I initiate and maintain ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives to match the right position to each client. It is the role of the Job Developer/Job Coach I to identify participant skills and strengths as well as assess the customer's need for services available in the community. These activities are precursors to employment success.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement principles of welfare reform, the work first philosophy to include confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Application of the Nine Star's Philosophy of Care: Compassion, Excellence, and Collaboration.
- Maintain and develop community partnerships with government and private sector employers, which will ensure awareness of the Anchorage labor market.
- Work with Career Development staff to place Work Services clients in employment situations.
- Develop employer relationships to customize employment opportunities to include subsidized and unsubsidized placements.
- Make cold calls to potential employment; explain the benefits and employment support programs to employers.
- Maintain a bank of current resources available in the local community to provide a variety of services to customers
- Identify barriers to employment by assessing resumes, cover letters, interview techniques, etc.
- Complete individual labor market surveys to identify employment opportunities.
- Provide direct job referrals and ensure necessary supports are in place for Work Services clients to follow through with referrals.
- Mentor participants to ease their transition into employment and eventual self-sufficiency.
- Problem-solving with clients and their employers as the need arises.
- Develop and monitor individualized job search plans.
- Provide job coaching services to ensure the success of all participants placed in employment situations.
- Complete written exit summaries to Work Services Specialists with recommendations of necessary support necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: *
Experience in the Anchorage business community.
Familiarity with Anchorage area community resources and experience in facilitation referrals for services.
Experience in assisting adults in career counseling and career choices.
