Andover Public Library Technology Trainer in Andover, Ohio

20 hrs/week.  One-year contract with possible renewal.

The  Technology Trainer is primarily responsible for assisting patrons and staff at Andover Public Library with technology. In addition the Trainer will generate public interest in and expertise with the Library's technology learning tools. The Trainer will learn what technology is available and how to use it then teach the staff/patrons how to use it and promote it.

The Technology Trainer must enjoy working with all ages from toddlers to  older adults.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  • Support patrons and staff members with their technology challenges.
  • Explore new and innovative technologies, both hardware and software, that will improve library and staff processes.
  • Find, set up, and maintain a calendar on which to schedule appointments. Train staff in its use.
  • Learn to use hardware and software that the library already owns and/or uses.
  • Explore, document, learn, and present new and innovative products and services (tech toys, software, databases, training guides, etc.) that the library, staff, and patrons can use.
  • Track training sessions, assistance, and technology-related interactions in a log.
  • Enthusiastically engage patrons of all ages in playing with technology learning tools such as robots, puzzles, building toys, 3D printers, VR goggles, Cricut etc.
  • Request patrons complete surveys to track effectiveness of training.
  • Identify technology training needs for adults, young adults, and children in consultation with director and staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills related to technology through professional reading, attendance at continuing education workshops and conferences, staff meetings and staff development activities.

The normal work schedule requires some evening and weekend hours.
