You will be responsible for selecting and developing the right API and carry out the drug product control strategy.

The selection of a proper API solid state form with its corresponding physical properties is the key to:

  • Drug product performance including PK profile as defined in target product profile

  • A thermodynamically stable API, in its free form, salt or cocrystal

  • A robust and reproducible API manufacturing process

  • A physically and chemically stable formulation

  • A robust drug product manufacturing process

  • Build phase diagrams and support crystallization processes.

  • Expertise in crystallography (XRPD, SC-XRD) and analytical techniques (DSC, TGA, GVS, Raman, IR…).

Qualifications

Education:

  • Educational background at research level (PhD or MSc or equivalent experience with appropriate qualifications) in a relevant subject area (e.g. chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, computational sciences)

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Proven expertise in solid-state chemistry and experience working with pharmaceutical compounds in a laboratory.

  • Strong proficiency in computational modelling techniques, such as molecular modelling, crystal structure prediction, building tailor made force fields and/or density functional theory (DFT).

  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for modelling and data analysis (e.g., Schrödinger Suite, Materials Studio, Gaussian, CASTEP, COSMOTherm, DL Poly, CCDC software suite). Experience in writing or adapting code (for example Python, Matlab or similar) would be an advantage.
