NORTHWEST STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Maintenance Technician in Archbold, Ohio

Applications are being accepted for a Maintenance Technician. Tasks of various skill levels in the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings and equipment, as well as some general custodial responsibility. The employee exercises technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally or through written instructions which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams.

Normal Weekly Hours: 40 for 12 months per year. Hours vary between 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. as scheduled by supervisor. Coverage may be needed in the department until 4:30 pm. Monday through Friday. Days/hours will vary due to operational situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform general building and maintenance activities as needed including painting, staining, carpentry, prep work, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.

  2. Perform snow removal, salting of walkways, shoveling and being prepared for off-hours work during cold weather events are required for the safety and continuity of campus needs. Driving powered equipment is typically required to fulfill this duty.

  3. Create and maintain a safe and secure working environment by ensuring that all policies, procedures and regulations are being followed.

  4. Operate all computerized building automation and HVAC equipment.

  5. Open building and verify proper operation of systems daily.

  6. Carry two-way radio and respond to campus emergencies and assist as needed.

  7. Maintain adequate levels of campus operations and maintenance supplies.

  8. Utilize computerized maintenance management system daily to ensure timely completion of work orders.

  9. Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing duties for building and equipment as needed.

  10. Assist with office moves as needed.

  11. Perform deliveries of all kinds as needed.

  12. Maintain outstanding customer services skills at all times.

  13. Other similar duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • A combination of two years training and/or experience in the electrical/mechanical/construction trades is required.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate all power equipment
  • Must have strong troubleshooting and electrical skills are required.
  • Must have computerized building automation repair and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work in tight and close fit areas.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet with ladder and lifts.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have forklift license.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED None.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC CONTACT Daily contact with customers and guests of the college.
