BAE Systems Acquisition Systems Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated mid-level systems engineer, preferably with US Navy (USN) background, to join our team at the NATO SEASPARROW Project Office (NSPO) in Arlington, VA. The selected candidate will provide engineering, engineering management, and programmatic support to the Technical Director for ESSM Block 1, ESSM Block 2 and for the NATO SEASPARROW Surface Missile System (NSSMS) and its components.

Specific program elements include Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) support for shipboard missile and Fire Control System (FCS), combat system program planning and management, modeling and simulation of the missile and FCS and their interaction and support to other US and International system integration programs. Duties will also include support for Future Naval Capabilities and Model Based Systems Engineering.

SETR Planning and Management.

Provide system engineering services to the Technical Director associated with the acquisition, development of new combat systems and weapon systems products and product upgrades to existing products.

Work with the other Technical Divisions and BAE Systems on site Engineering Manager to develop tailored Technical Review Action Plans associated with the various SETR events at each stage of the acquisition lifecycle. Prepare thorough, comprehensive and effective reviews that meet the relevant guidelines and best practices and address all relevant aspects of system performance and integration.

Schedule or participate in SETR events, review technical documentation to ensure they meet required standards and provide clear and accurate information for decision-making and provide recommendations to the Technical Director.

Support the integration and interoperability of multiple systems to function as a cohesive system of systems.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers from the Navy Field Activities and the Design Agent, program managers, and International stakeholders.

Facilitate clear and effective communication between team members and external stakeholders.

Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in systems engineering and acquisition, including Model Based System Engineering.

Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) Support.

Provide support to the NSPO Technical Director with FNC efforts including reviewing and updating Technology Transition Agreement (TTA) documentation, associated task statements, and assessments. Support will include tracking the FNC progress.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of related experience or no degree and 5 years related experience.

Knowledge of Systems Engineering and SETR related processes preferably in a defense acquisition setting.

Familiarity with USN weapon systems.

Working knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).

Working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Oce Suite SW products.

Strong technical and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Demonstrated Experience with naval program acquisition processes and lifecycle management.

Proficient in technical documentation and engineering review processes.

Understanding of current and emerging naval technologies and their applications.

Project management skills and experience with managing complex technical projects.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $75570 - $128480

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
