Genetic Counselor - Maternal Fetal Medicine

Job Description

VHC Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Genetic Counselor to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine team. As a Genetic Counselor at VHC Health, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment, providing essential genetic counseling services to patients and their families as part of the maternal fetal medicine program. This position has the potential to become full time within the year. Ideal candidates will have interest in growing the genetic counseling services at VHC Health in the areas of hereditary cancer and/or cardiology.

Purpose & Scope:

In addition to providing patient care, the Genetic Counselor will be responsible for performing multiple clinical and coordination tasks with a high degree of competency. This position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of clinical care.

Education:

Master's degree in genetics or genetic counseling is required.

Experience:

Two years of experience in genetic counseling is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

Licensed Genetic Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred

Board Eligible Genetic Counselor is preferred

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or related field

Board certification or board-eligible as a Genetic Counselor

Experience in maternal fetal medicine or prenatal genetic counseling preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Knowledge of current genetic testing technologies and resources
