AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Sales, Marketing & Global Services (SMGS) is looking for a Job Architecture specialist to join our team, supporting the tech roles across our business. We are looking for a candidate who is highly organized, analytical, influential and has a passion for managing job architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, governance and maintenance of job architecture, including job levels, job families, job classifications, and job competencies/capabilities for the tech roles in SMGS. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3+ years of experience in job architecture, management, or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to develop job architecture for a large complex organization. In addition, the candidate must possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop and implement best practices in job architecture and work across AWS and Amazon teams.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain SMGS job architecture, including job levels, job families, job classifications, and job competencies for assigned business unit

  • Collaborate and earn trust with stakeholders to analyze job requirements and design job architecture that meets the organization's needs.

  • Research and analyze best practices in job architecture and develop strategies for implementation.

  • Monitor and report on job architecture performance and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Lead the development of tools and processes to ensure job architecture accuracy and consistency through working with various stakeholders in the business (Annual Planning, Global Sales Compensation) and HR (central compensation, HRBP’s, etc.)

  • Partner with systems owners to ensure that job architecture is embedded and consistent across relevant technologies, minimizing errors and defects

  • Maintain a current and accurate job architecture database.

  • Develop and implement job architecture training programs for stakeholders.

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure job architecture alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on job architecture-related issues.

  • Analyze job architecture-related data and provide meaningful insights.

The ideal candidate will have experience working across or with large enterprise sales organizations either in a specialist or generalist HR capacity. They will have the ability to work across multiple stakeholders, communicate persuasively and succinctly and earn trust of peers, business leaders and human resources leaders. a A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness are critical. You will work closely and often with AWS executives, so strong written and verbal communications is a must.

• The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience working across large enterprise sales organizations

• Strong business partner experience, partnering with business leaders and key stakeholders to deliver business impactful results (e.g. Finance, Human Resources) and ability to earn trust

• The right person will be technical and analytical, and able to dive deep into details

• Experience building scalable processes, systems and tools to serve a diverse and dynamic field sales organization.

• Technical knowledge is helpful, including in areas such as: software development, product development, defining technical requirements, analytics solutions, and also data warehouses.

• Working across a matrix organization to influence and align various levels of leadership on role taxonomy, job architecture, and governance

• Strong project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years domain experience in the job architecture space, and/or leading job architecture projects from start to finish.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $193,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
