Job Summary:

The Lead Construction Project Manager oversees large-scale construction projects from inception to completion. They are responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves managing various teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and handling complex logistical challenges.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Management :

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

  • Oversee the entire construction process, ensuring that all phases are completed according to the plan.

  • Team Leadership and Coordination :

  • Lead and manage construction teams, including project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and laborers.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment and effective communication.

  • Budget and Cost Control :

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and within the allocated budget.

  • Approve expenditures, manage procurement, and negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers.

  • Quality Assurance :

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and project specifications.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.

  • Safety Management :

  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with safety regulations and standards.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and prevent accidents on site.

  • Schedule Management :

  • Develop detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and adjust timelines as necessary to meet deadlines.

  • Identify potential delays and implement mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.

  • Stakeholder Communication :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.

  • Provide regular updates on project status, addressing any concerns or issues that arise.

  • Problem Solving and Decision Making :

  • Identify and resolve issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process.

  • Make informed decisions to overcome obstacles and ensure the successful completion of the project.

  • Regulatory Compliance :

  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for construction activities.

  • Documentation and Reporting :

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.

  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are advantageous.

  • CCM Certification is preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial/government facility construction project management.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate diverse teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and technologies.

  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost estimation, and financial management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make decisions under pressure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, with the ability to manage complex schedules and timelines.

  • High attention to detail to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications and regulations.

  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices and regulations.

  • Managing complex new construction or major renovation commercial/government building projects with experience managing simultaneous construction and/or building projects.

  • In planning, budgeting, and design process, including all phases from strategic operational/logistical planning/budgeting, procurement strategy and implementation, end user, project team and public communications, and close out.
