Amazon PR & Executive Communications Manager, Sustainability in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Amazon is seeking a seasoned PR and Executive Communications professional to join our Global Sustainability PR team. This individual will be responsible for supporting executive communications strategies for Worldwide Sustainability leadership and developing PR plans in support of Amazon’s commitment to The Climate Pledge.

This individual should have extremely high standards and judgement with the ability to deliver strategic communications counsel to Amazon senior leaders. They should be able to work autonomously as well as with a team, coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders and partners around the world.

This role can be based in Arlington, VA; Seattle, WA, or NYC, NY.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop PR strategies for cross-team storytelling opportunities on sustainability topics and The Climate Pledge.

• Support executive communications for Amazon’s Worldwide Sustainability leadership team.

• Implement an executive social media strategy for Worldwide Sustainability and Community Impact leaders.

• Oversee Amazon's Worldwide Sustainability Speakers Bureau.

• Maintain relationships with national business, tech, and sustainability focused press and prepare executives for interviews.

• Solid writer who can craft messaging materials ranging from press releases, blog posts, speeches, and talking points.

• Provide PR planning and support at events such as World Economic Forum, UN Climate Change Conference (COP), Climate Week, SXSW and more.

• Willingness to travel periodically both domestically and internationally with the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record in communications supporting senior business leaders.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work effectively with executives and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Highly proficient in using various communication channels and tools, including social media platforms.

  • The ability to self-motivate, work autonomously at times and roll up their sleeves to get the job done.

  • Solid judgment and ability to make decisions in real-time.

  • Background in sustainability communications preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
