Would you like to be part of a team that is helping Amazon Web Services redefine the future of reliable, affordable, clean energy? The AWS Infra Energy team is looking for a world-class candidate to drive development of new energy power solutions using advanced technologies.

The successful candidate will have experience in end-to-end power project development process from design, regulatory licensing, site permitting and construction management. They will have the ability to define the development process for energy plants working in-close collaboration with utilities, power developers, and Federal agencies such as the Department of Energy (DOE). Within Amazon they will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team across energy, engineering, construction, legal, policy, PR, and community teams. They must understand the nuances of designing, financing, and developing energy power plant projects including permitting and regulatory licensing. They must be able to drive key stakeholders across Amazon teams and also with utilities and energy companies to deliver such projects.

Key job responsibilities

• Support development and execution of clean energy strategy for AWS data centers in US.

• Deliver power generation solutions in the US working with partners.

• Drive due-diligence on specific power projects and recommendations to leadership on specific power solutions that meet AWS’s needs.

• Own the end-to-end project development and execution roadmap for clean energy projects working with partners.

• Work closely with the commercial team to design and develop commercial arrangements (rate structures, tariffs).

• Build relationships with senior leaders and other stakeholders in energy, power and utilities companies, regulatory bodies such the and DOE.

• Be a passionate self-starter.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in developing power, power generation projects

• Experience in driving complex power project development from initial stages to full commissioning.

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required – Engineering/Economics/Business/Finance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (MBA/MS/JD) preferred with electrical engineering background work.

• Proven background in, thermal power project development, renewables, new technologies, transmission development in the US.

• Excellent business judgement and the demonstrated ability to think and act both strategically and tactically.

• Prior experience as a development lead on any of the major energy generation projects developed in the last 20 years in the US or Europe.

• Ability to develop ideas and drive high frequency decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal stakeholders and leadership within the industry and regulators.

• Experience working in related role in the energy/ power & utilities industry.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
