Job Description

The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer of pond, lake and water garden products including aeration systems, fountains and water treatments.  The Pond Guy sells nationwide to both end-users and a network of Airmax distributors. Our Quality Manager is responsible for the full scope of product and service quality from incoming supplier materials, process control, final inspection and the repair center. There will be a heavy focus on maintaining or improving the quality of internally manufactured products. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering. 

Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.

  • Lead, develop, mentor and supervise quality and repair center team
  • Work closely with cross functional teams -- Facilities/maintenance, Purchasing, Production, Distribution, Service, Sales, Process, and Engineering
  • Work with suppliers and customers addressing quality and customer compliant issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement ICA's (Initial Corrective Actions) and PCA's (Permanent Corrective Actions) as appropriate
  • Analyze quality data from all available sources (ex. Service, Repair Center, Tech Department, etc.) to identify emerging issues
  • Conduct supplier validation and qualification through scorecards and visits; Coordinate with vendors and purchasing to correct any discrepant product and establish methods to prevent reoccurrence; Assess supplier capabilities and monitor supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of work instructions, inspection reports and records for new and existing products
  • Research and define methods for internal and external laboratory testing procedures for products (ex. Bacteria, dry and liquid pond treatments)
  • Manage Repair Center and coordinate quality discoveries with Engineering, Production, or Process teams
  • Ensure team is properly staffed and continue to improve strength of talent within department through training and quarterly employee reviews
  • Maintain product safety documentation and certification systems: UL, ETL, EPA, CE, C-tick, etc. 
  • Work with Engineering and Process teams to draft quality specifications for manufacturing and develop/implement quality checks at appropriate points in the manufacturing process
  • Create and maintain product BOMs throughout product life cycle

Don't know about ponds? That's ok! You'll be trained to be proficient in your job. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of TPG, Inc.'s proactive approach to pond management. 

Availability

You must be available to work an 8 -- hour shift between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday -- Friday with the occasional evening or Saturday for projects that must be done outside of normal business hours.
