Job Summary

CRH Plc is seeking a Compliance Attorney to join its collaborative legal department. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with Senior Compliance Counsel, Regional Compliance Managers across the Americas and Europe, and will collaborate closely with the Global Compliance team in the implementation and management of CRH's Compliance Program and risk mitigation strategies. Areas of focus will include antitrust / competition law, data privacy, international trade, anti-fraud and theft, anti-bribery, and the preparation and oversight of investigations procedures and processes. The role will cover a broad scope of work, including drafting updates to policies and procedures, overseeing the handling of investigations, providing training to local operating companies and global functions with respect to antitrust law, data privacy, international trade, and fraud awareness, among other topics, and advising on potential conflicts of interest. The Compliance program at CRH is designed to focus on the highest priority risks and the scope of work will evolve in line with that. The role will also require the review of sanctions alerts and the provision of legal advice with respect to potential sanctions matches prior to entering into transactions. Additionally, the role will also require the review of data privacy related queries and the provision of legal advice in respect of same, including advising on data subject access requests and preparation of privacy policies. The Compliance Counsel will also assist the Senior Compliance Counsel with an overall assessment of CRH's corporate compliance program to identify any potential gaps, and the preparation of a strategic plan to mitigate risks. From time to time, the Compliance Counsel may be asked to assist in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries and / or subpoenas.

Job Responsibilities

Providing support and legal advice to the legal and compliance function and the global business and corporate functions regarding compliance with international trade and sanctions laws and regulations, data privacy laws, antitrust laws and internal investigations procedures. Advising the business on relevant data protection considerations, including CCPA, CPRA and GDPR. Work with our Global Compliance team to enhance compliance initiatives, ensuring conformity to all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory bodies, and horizon scanning to stay ahead of the curve. Providing support on and overseeing the handling of internal investigations, including ensuring that investigations are conducted promptly and in accordance with company procedures. Keeping up to date with all relevant laws and regulations in the US, Ireland and other countries where our organization operates, providing legal viewpoints and ensuring our continuous compliance. Collaborating with the Global Compliance Team in managing customized compliance initiatives globally to address stakeholder requirements and regulatory and compliance developments. Contributing to the design of relevant Compliance training, particularly in antitrust law, data privacy, international trade, anti-fraud and anti-bribery laws and regulations. Assisting in the development of policies to address business and legal requirements and to achieve CRH's sustainability goals. Conduct legal research on various topics and draft memorandums of advice for senior compliance counsel review. Retrieve information from judicial, legislative, and industry databases. Develop strong working relationships with the operating companies. Assist at orneys, regional compliance managers, and other team members on various legal matters and provide legal advice in respect of same. Coordinate with internal and external attorneys on the management of legal matters. Proactively identifying legal risks and providing legal advice in respect of same. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. License to practice law in at least one state. 3 years of experience at a law firm or in-house. Experience in litigation / investigations, including criminal law experience, is preferred but not mandatory. Proven experience in dealing with corporate compliance related issues, with strong knowledge of areas such as data privacy, international trade compliance, regulatory investigations, competition/anti-trust, anti-fraud/anti-bribery and anti-corruption. Experience designing / implementing corporate compliance programs for multi-national organizations. Proven experience working with (internal or external) clients across jurisdictions.

Skills / Knowledge
