Your New Role...

The SALT Tax Manager will be directly involved in all aspects of the US Domestic Indirect Tax process including, Sales and Use, Gross Receipts, Personal Property, Real Property, and Business License Taxes. This position will report to and partner with the Director of US Indirect Tax on tax technical analysis, audits, legislative initiatives, research, planning, and business support. The SALT Tax Manager will also work directly with the Sr. Tax Manager on determining the appropriate tax footprint/registrations needed, compiling the relevant data, determining calculation methodologies, and working directly with our 3rd party co-sourcing teams. The SALT Manager will support all of our WBD brands including, but not limited to: our various streaming products (e.g. Max, Discovery+), eCommerce retail sales (e.g. Home Entertainment, DC Comics, WB Shop, etc.), Harry Potter retail store, and TV networks. This position will also learn and work with tax technology on all existing new product launches and Global ERP, P2P and tax engine implementations, ensuring that US Domestic indirect tax needs are identified and communicated to ensure proper compliance reporting, and taxability determinations.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Assist with the Sales/Use, Gross Receipts, NY Commercial Rent, Personal Property and Real Property compliance processes including: establishing data parameters that satisfy compliance and audit requirements; pulling data from financial systems or obtaining data from applicable operations or F&A groups; Analyze financial data for inclusion in returns or corrections, calculate taxes due where necessary; Assist with the review/approval of returns prepared by KPMG; Assist in the management of funding for tax payments. Assist with monthly account reconciliations to ensure compliance with appliable internal accounting requirements.

  • Supporting the Tax Director as it relates to business inquiries, research and planning opportunities, and legislative monitoring/advocacy. This would include: Researching and preparing appropriate exemption certificates for vendors, advising our internal client, transactional support, engaging on advocacy initiatives, and quantifying said impacts.

  • Working directly with the Tax Director on Multi-jurisdictional audits and controversy of all tax types within the scope of US Indirect Tax including: gathering the appropriate documentation, analyzing potential risks and impacts relating to ASC 450-20 requirements, and updating management as appropriate.

  • Assist Tax Director and Sr. Tax Manager with Global ERP and P2P implementation and testing and work with the Sr. Tax Manager maintaining DTC Vertex and AFC tax engines. Assist with special tax projects as needed to support and reduce Company tax burdens including quantifying impacts of indirect tax legislative proposals. Manage compliance with Corporate records management policy.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • 10+ years of multi-state transaction tax experience, including relevant experience in either a large corporate or major firm environment

  • CPA Preferred

  • Experience with entertainment/media industry highly preferred.

  • Experience with various ERP systems including SAP, and Oracle

  • Bachelors degree, business or accounting major or substantial equivalent work experience.

  • Working knowledge of financial systems such as , SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, and related systems

  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel/Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
