Southern Company Sr. Specialist, Digital Media (Video) in Atlanta, Georgia

Supports brand, customer communications and digital team through execution of social media, video and digital content. Responsible for producing compelling, visual storytelling. Applies latest social and digital trends, content effectiveness and makes recommendations based on the data.

Functional Expertise:

  • Contributes to the effectiveness of the company’s social media channels and overall digital communication strategy through video production and storytelling

  • Responsible for execution of external video and social media content

  • Proofreads and edits digital communications in support of external communication initiatives.

  • Executes on digital communication editorial and project plans for specific external communication initiatives

  • Creates content in alignment with our social media pillars: safety, customer, DEI, sustainability, natural gas advocacy

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Works closely with communication and digital team to ensure timely execution of content across digital communications mediums.

Engagement:

  • Works with customer communications to deliver on digital communication initiatives for the business units in a fashion that is consistent with corporate guidelines.

  • Role modeling honesty, respect, organizational values and fairness towards all.

Driving Results:

  • Monitors progress against metrics/deliverables; holds self & others accountable for results

  • Develops, tracks and reports on success metrics that demonstrate the value of digital communications relative to corporate and business unit objectives

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mass media, communications or similar combination of education and experience may be acceptable

Preferred:

  • Project Management

Related Work Experience

Required:

  • Minimum three years in digital communications, with a significant portion of that time spent creating video content for social media

Preferred:

  • Energy industry experience valuable

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:

  • Proficient use of Premiere Pro, Adobe, iMovie or other editing tools and software

  • Strong written communication and project management skills

  • Strong ability to analyze communication effectiveness and make recommendations based on data.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines

Preferred:

  • Has worked in Monday.com before

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Hybrid office space: the team comes in office two days a week (flexible)

  • Travel frequently required to different video and field shoot locations
