Description
The Senior Nursing Clinical Instructor is responsible for teaching and evaluating students in the laboratory and clinical practice areas in accordance with the nursing program and course requirements.
Examples of Duties
Teaches and evaluates students in the skill, simulation, and clinical practice areas
Assists the Assistant Director, Skill and Simulation Laboratories with the clinical laboratory operations including training faculty on the use of laboratory and simulation equipment and assisting with set-ups for skill and simulation experiences
Participates in student remediation activities, including special student clinical learning and refresher events (ATI, Expo, Brown Bag lunches, and Re-entry). Assists with ATI proctoring, open-lab sessions, and course content tutoring
Assists with the Trajecsys online system with responsibilities to include product orientation for faculty, staff, and students, monitoring of student laboratory and clinical attendance, and the completion of student clinical evaluations by faculty
Assists with scheduling student clinical rotations, orientations, and badge distributions
Assists with the creation of clinical faculty and student clinical schedules
Assists with student health and program wide requirements and the preparation of clinical attestations reports
Maintains standards of professional nursing practice as an individual and as a member of the nursing team
Mentors clinical faculty
Serves as a role model for nursing students
Maintains competency in all designated practice areas by participating in continuing education programs and maintaining membership and participation in the Tri-State LRC consortium and the INASCL association
Adheres to all applicable College, Nursing Program, and Clinical Agency policies and procedures
Participates in required orientations, classes, and meetings deemed necessary by the Nursing program or clinical partners
Participates in the recruitment and retention of Nursing and Health Science students.
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) ? License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey
Experience:
- Minimum two years of current acute care nursing clinical experience
Competencies and Skills Required:
Ability to teach in all areas of nursing
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
