The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics.

This position contributes to Starbucks success by ensuring product is effectively and efficiently delivered from Starbucks distribution centers to our stores and customers. Develops processes to ensure a cost-effective, high service approach to order and logistics issue resolution. Partners cross-functionally to develop logistics services team that can accommodate business growth and generate value for Starbucks and customers.

As a logistics services manager, you will…

Lead

  • Set goals for the work group, develop organizational capability, and model how we work together:

  • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

  • Support the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.

  • Maximize a return on resources when managing team requests.

  • Communicate and influence cross-functionally, both within SCO and across business partner teams, such as retail stores, Channel Development and licensed store teams.

Plan and Execute

  • Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, manage execution, and measure results:

  • Prepare, communicate and educate client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization

  • Plan and manage business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.

  • Manage the process end to end for product distribution from our distribution centers to those of our retail customers.

  • Develop processes to support internal and external business partners as it relates to the movement of raw materials and product.

  • Manage resource plans for various initiatives and build process supporting business strategy by sequencing workload and resources.

  • Be responsible for implementing processes to reduce overall logistics costs through optimizations and influencing other business areas (where appropriate).

  • Ensure proper execution of product, packaging and shelf-life requirements. Is involved in investigating and issue resolution/recovery when requirements are not met.

  • Develop and enhance processes and procedures for effective order and customer management. Identify cost and benefit of potential improvements and manage the implementation of improvements. Utilize internal measurements and provide ongoing audit for continuous improvement.

  • Manage the development and implementation of technology related systems procedures and standards to aid in raw material receiving or finished goods management.

  • Collaborate with internal business partners to determine technology and applications to support new client programs. Manage the assessment and analysis of overall effectiveness of systems to ensure optimum performance of applications, including contract management, reporting, order entry and related systems.

Business Requirements

  • Provide functional expertise and execute functional responsibilities:

  • Be knowledgeable of the regulatory and legal aspects as relating to economics of distributions and transportation of food products; as well as all aspects of distribution services, costs, operations and negotiations.

  • Understand the unique business requirements for each store or distribution center, customer and Channel Development field team and be able to effectively translate that into an actionable request/project within the Supply Chain function and vice versa.

  • Be a cross-functional liaison between Starbucks business units, supply chain, stores and distribution centers.

  • Use problem-solving and alternative analysis methodologies to assess the financial and operational impact of business initiatives. Assess critical information required to make effective decisions or recommendations for process changes.

  • Develop and manage the ongoing relationships with SCO, support functions, customers and vendors to improve service levels.

  • Have a solid understanding and be able to educate others on product shelf live.

Partner Development & Team Building

  • Provide partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and build effective teams:

  • Challenge and inspire team members to achieve business results.

  • Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews.

  • Ensure partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.

  • Oversee training and development of partners directly and indirectly manage and make effective staffing decisions.

  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partners, business and customer results.

  • Manage, including building and leading cross-functional teams.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Supply chain operations experience in multiple departments and scaled operations (4-6 years)

  • Establishing and implementing systems, processes and tools for business unit/department (4-6 years)

  • Cross-functional experience in three or more of the following areas: procurement, production, DC operations, shipping and transportation, inventory control, vendor management and engineering (4-6 years)

  • Management, including building and leading cross-functional teams (4-6 years)

  • Managing operations in a foodservice and/or consumer packaged industry (1-3 years)

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
