Position Description

The Registered Nurse is a professional registered nurse responsible for the nursing care of a defined patient population. Care is provided through the use of the nursing process and in a manner that is cost effective while maintaining quality of care and optimal patient outcomes. The Registered Nurse assumes relief Charge Nurse Responsibilities when assigned. The Registered Nurse participates in unit based and organizational quality improvement initiatives, meets continuing education requirements, participates in student/new employee orientations/teaching activities, upholds Patient Care Services? philosophy and objectives, demonstrates professional growth and development through involvement in professional organizations, review of professional literature and participation in continuing education programs.

Position Requirements

ADN, BSN, OR BA/BS with MSN. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS). ACLS, PALS, or NRP (only in select units/departments) must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Current Registered Nursing License (Georgia) or qualifying multi-state compact license.

Preferred Requirements

1+ years of experience in a medicine progressive care unit, Certified Medical Surgical Nurse, ACLS by the American Heart Association is preferred, not required. *Specialty areas may require additional certifications pertinent to work with their patient populations. Experience in a like-setting (academic medical center); area specific advanced certification.
