The Poleg-Polsky lab in the Visual Processing Center within the Department of Physiology and Biophysics is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to join a team focused on understanding the functions of neurons and circuits in the visual system using experiment and theory. This position offers collaboration across three laboratories, combining retinal electrophysiology and imaging, cellular and circuit modeling, in vivo two-photon microscopy of synaptic and cellular activity, two-photon optogenetic perturbations, CRISPR/Cas9 gene manipulations, and rodent visual behaviors. In addition to understanding normal function, we are interested in degenerative neurological conditions leading to alterations in visual processing. Supervision is provided by Dr. Alon Poleg-Polsky, M.D., PhD. Additional supervision provided by Drs. Gidon Felsen, PhD and Benjamin Scholl, PhD

– this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics has a long history of applying quantitative approaches to key problems in biomedical research. Our faculty use cutting-edge multidisciplinary approaches and incorporate their strengths in molecular, cellular and systems biology, electrophysiology, electrical engineering and advanced light microscopy to carry out internationally recognized research. Whereas the specific research interests of the faculty are diverse, we have in common the goal of using innovative and rigorous methods to address fundamental questions. These core bonds have led to a collaborative and supportive environment, ideal for training of graduate students & post-doctoral fellows and fostering interactions with basic and clinical researchers in other departments. The University of Colorado offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, life insurance, retirement plans, tuition benefits, ECO pass, paid time off – vacation, sick, and holidays and more.
