Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc.

Our 280 hour class will provide hands on training that will assist prospective candidates with obtaining their NREMT and state licenses. Within this 4 month course you will learn skills related but not limited to EMS vehicle operations, airway management, cardiac emergencies, pharmacology, pediatrics, trauma, and obstetrics.

History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 2,500 licensed EMTs, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 500 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation.

We are looking for highly motivated and self-driven candidates to join the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Industry. We are offering a FREE EMT course for our EMT Student Program that will educate students and prepare them to obtain their EMT license and become an Illinois Licensed EMT. All materials are covered by Superior Ambulance Service (SAS). Upon receiving their Illinois EMT license, you will be offered a full-time position with Superior Ambulance Services. The class is free as long as you are employed as a full-time EMT for a period of 15 months after you graduate from EMT school. The class will be starting on July 23rd, 2024 and run until November 1st, 2024 and be held from 9am-5pm on Tuesday and Friday each week.

Responsibilities

  • Observational rider with current Superior Ambulance Field Employees

  • Learning State Protocols and Standards through classroom instruction

  • Represent the Company by being courteous, professional, and a patient advocate.

  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance while maintaining courteous, professional, and ethical behavior while working cooperatively with other members of the health care system, co-workers, and the public.

  • Perform other duties as assigned including those specific to the local operation.

  • Regular and timely attendance consistent with scheduled hours. Absences cannot exceed two classes.

  • Uses care and respect with all equipment and supplies.

  • Must maintain an 80% average in the class to remain in the program and maintain employment.

Qualifications

  • Current state Driver's License in good standing with satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Superiors Driving Policy.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and medical agencies to provide the highest level of patient care.

  • Ability to pass a background check.

  • Ability to read and interpret all required documents and write required reports and correspondence.

  • Other qualifications/certifications specific to the local operation and/or contract requirements.

  • Satisfactorily meet company physical assessments/tests/drug screening. (Must be able to lift 137.5 lbs)

  • High School diploma or GED required, unless currently enrolled in High School

  • Past training in healthcare related fields, or Military experience is welcomed but not necessary.

  • Must be 18 years or older to be considered.

  • Admission will be approved based on passing an entrance assessment.
