Rewarding opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Server Administrator to perform highly advanced systems administration work on the Enterprise Systems Team of the Information Systems Division. Work involves all aspects of managing enterprise computing systems including highly-complex projects and operational tasks such as administration, design, implementation, documentation, maintenance, support and security of infrastructure, systems, services and applications, ensuring alignment with ERS strategic goals, business needs and management priorities. Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Designs, installs, configures, administers, and supports infrastructure systems, including IBM Power/PowerVM, HMC, VIO and other related systems software. Designs, installs, configures, administers, and supports platform systems, including AIX and Linux. Manages capacity, performance, reliability, security, usability and disaster preparedness of platform systems. Designs, implements, administers, and supports backup systems and applications. Configures backup and other jobs ensuring all server data is protected using standard agency practices and schedules. Conducts operational backup management including monitoring routine backups and mitigating any failures or issues which occur. Designs, implements, administers, and supports monitoring systems and applications. Ensures monitoring tools are configured to detect availability, capacity and other issues and proactively address alerts and notices in a timely manner to minimize or eliminate impact to agency production. Researches, assesses, evaluates, and recommends new, upgraded and developing systems and technologies to determine suitability for current and future agency enterprise computing needs. Provides recommendations and risk assessments of new features, capacity and licensing requirements, high-availability, and integrations. Develops and documents best practices, operating procedures and guidelines, and provides quality control through the application of standards and by ensuring that user requirements are met. Actively collaborates with others. Analyses and revises existing documents for currency, accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness. Participates in disaster recovery including planning, documentation, backup management, and exercises to ensure preparedness to respond to disasters and other unplanned situations and events which could impact system availability for business operations. Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications: 1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in data processing, computer science, management information systems, business or related field. Each year of related experience over the required minimum may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of required college credit. 2) Six (6) years of experience in an enterprise technology environment performing systems design, deployment, administration, support and security of IBM Power and AIX systems. Preferred Qualifications: Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications: 3) Experience in an enterprise technology environment performing systems design, deployment, administration, support and securi y of Linux systems. 4) Experience managing and supporting enterprise infrastructure and systems including server and storage equipment and technologies. 5) Prefer experience in an environment supporting Oracle applications and database servers. 6) IBM AIX Administration Power systems and/or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert -Power Systems with AIX.
