Amazon Senior Product Manager - Tech, Fulfillment Optimization in Austin, Texas

Description

Amazon retail customers place several billion orders with us each year. Besides the extensive selection, a key appeal of Amazon to our customers is fast, on-time delivery; since the introduction of Prime with 2-day shipping in 2005, Amazon has continuously invested in our fulfillment network to make on-time 1-day and even same day delivery of millions of items a reality for our customers. The delivery promise dates (“promises”) we provide to our customers throughout our retail website – from the search page to the item detail page through to checkout – are computed and vended by services owned by the Promise team. Delivery speed information from Promise is also used for ranking search results and for determining the buy box winner on an item detail page. The dates vended by Promise are, in essence, the face of Amazon’s vast fulfillment capabilities to our customers, and represent both a promise to our customers and a constraint to our fulfillment systems, directly impacting both the customer experience and key financial metrics.

The Senior Product Manager for Promise Core will be the sole product owner for this critical area. They will work with partner teams across the customer journey, from search and delivery experience (DEX), to warehouse operations and transportation, to ensure an ideal experience for our customers and the long-term success of Amazon. They will work closely with promise economists, research scientists, and engineers to design, develop, test, and deploy services that evaluate inventory, fulfillment capabilities, carrier capabilities, and more, in mere milliseconds, to compute the optimal promise. This role is, therefore, a highly visible and critical position within Amazon, with significant impact to the customer experience.
