Whole Foods Market Senior Team Leader, Category Insights in Austin, Texas

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Team Leader for Category Analytics to join the Category, Assortment, and Space Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a large team of analysts and contractors to support Culinary, Center Store, Perishables, and Exclusive Brands Category Insights.

This role is a team leadership role focused on team member development for analysts at different levels and stages of their career. This leader will also focus on streamlining processes, data, insights, and ways of working across Culinary, Center Store, Perishables, and Exclusive Brands. This position will coach analysts to provide an integrated point of view of business and customer insights leveraging internal and external data sources while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify and solve for any gaps in analytical processes and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach a large team of analysts to provide strategic recommendations to Category Merchants by delivering data-driven and actionable insights that contribute to improved business performance.

  • Coach team to provide actionable insights and easy to follow narratives vs acting as data providers.

  • Focus on team member development and hiring the best; along with hiring and managing contractor performance.

  • Streamline insights processes, data, deliverables, and ways of working across Culinary, Center Store, Perishables, and Exclusive Brands.

  • Manage the Insights Calendar, Ad hoc requests, and manage team capacity to optimally serve business needs.

  • Collaborate with Principal Analysts over Culinary, Center Store, and Perishables to connect Category Insights to Quarterly Analytics Reviews.

  • Lead Category Roles & Levers work for Culinary, Center Store, and Perishables; partnering closely with Data Science, and pricing & promo analytics.

  • Understand and activate business impact levers (promotions, price, product, customer, etc.…) along with leveraging 3rd party competitive landscape tools, customer behavior metrics, and data science models.

  • Lead collaboration with business partners, including 3rd parties, to identify gaps in analytical processes and reporting; problem solve with various other teams to fill gaps influence decision making throughout the business, which often requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

    Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience leading, coaching and developing others.

  • Ability to translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization to generate business insights and recommendations that drive action.

  • Proven ability to utilize advanced analytical methods to identify patterns, relationships, and trends across multiple data sources.

  • Passion for developing simple visualizations that lead to clear insights for various levels of stakeholder groups .

  • Experience leveraging data science models to derive insights required.

  • Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal, and written.

  • Creative problem-solving skills, maturity to handle ambiguity, flexibility to perform in a dynamic collaborative environment, and ability to multitask across projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with working with market syndicated data (e.g. Nielsen, Numerator), shopper insights solutions, visual analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau) and Microsoft Excel, familiarity with data basics, structure, and relationships.

  • Project Management experience and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.

    Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Analytical Business Specialty, Marketing Research or retail experience preferred
