HP Inc. Video Solutions SW Product Manager - Poly in Austin, Texas

As a Senior Product Manager within the video collaboration space, specializing in video software, you will help lead the strategic direction and oversee the execution of cutting-edge software solutions. This role places you at the heart of product innovation, making you a pivotal stakeholder throughout the product development lifecycle. You will be a lead stakeholder during the product development lifecycle serving as a central resource, across multiple organizations including hardware and software design, operations, test, quality, and marketing organizations. Responsible for designing, developing, and managing a portfolio of products that translate end user requirements into innovative market leading products and customer success stories.  As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead the software for the entire video product portfolio ensuring product success at every phase of the product lifecycle from requirement definition, development, production, and end of life. By collaborating with internal teams and customers, you will shape the future of communication technology and advance our market leadership. 

Responsibilities:

  • Define a forward-looking software product strategy that aligns with industry trends, technology advancements and customer needs.

  • Strategically partner with key senior stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.

  • Recommend software product requirements and definitions to align with stakeholder's needs.

  • Provide strategic guidance to junior product managers and the product team, fostering innovation and a culture of excellence.

  • Collaborate with the hardware and software engineering team on feature ideas and prototypes to bring potential solutions into reality.

  • Advise stakeholders on the software strategic direction throughout portfolio lifecycles.

  • Play a leadership role and drives the progress and effectiveness of the product management function.

  • Monitor and report key metrics to inform future software product development strategies.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in complex hardware and software environments

  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, technical and non-technical audiences, to convey critical information and processes in a clear and concise fashion.

  • Product development leadership experience, including demonstrated examples of management through influence and collaboration in a complex, multi-cultural global environment, building a culture of accountability.

  • Strong leadership qualities, particularly in fostering innovation and organizational excellence.

  • Proficient in using engineering tools like Jira and Confluence, and knowledgeable in Scrum methodology to effectively communicate and refine software requirements and plan software releases.

  • Preferred: Strong subject matter expertise in Unified Communications and Collaboration, video systems, audio systems, deep knowledge in SIP, cloud services, or similar areas.

Scope & Impact

  • Partners with sales, customer success, and support teams to define business requirements, product design, deployment, and adoption plans.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert and advises various internal, partner, and customer teams on the needs and requirements of target markets.

  • Provides guidance for junior team members.

  • Oversees the overall quality of work of the product management team.

  • Ability to make key decisions regarding products that may have organizational impacts for multiple years.

Complexity

  • High: Extensive cross-functional/cross-organizational senior management interface; deals with complex strategic issues.

  • Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, and techniques. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in HP's most complex disciplines.

  • Provides highly innovative solutions. Leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower-level employees.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically 10+ years of relevant experience.
