Amentum Cable Specialist, Senior (Baghdad, Iraq) in Baghdad, Iraq

The Cable Installer, Senior will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of IT network infrastructure, inside/outside plant fiber optics, copper, and coaxial cables, terminating all types of IT network infrastructure and telecommunication connectors in a manner consistent with Army regulations and Industry Standards and practices (ANSI/TIA/EIA/OSHA/NFPA) and will report to the Site Services Manager. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

  • Planning, engineering, installation, maintenance, testing and troubleshoot IT network infrastructure (OSP/ISP), external/internal DSN and VoIP telephone infrastructure and AFN TV cable system, using various media including, but not limited to, single and multi-mode fiber optic cables, CAT5, CAT6, RG59, RG11 and phone cables.

  • Perform site survey, prepare internal statement of work for new cable installations

  • Provides preventative maintenance work, troubleshooting, and quickly resolves moderately complex problems to ensure user satisfaction.

  • Coordinate the customer support activities and monitor work requests related IT network infrastructure, phones and AFN TV cable system using MAXIMO, SharePoint, and Global Maintenance Management System (GMMS) applications.

  • Perform equipment/tools/materials inventory update

  • Maintain and re-order network infrastructure tools as well as bench stock materials used onsite (cables, patch cords, connectors).

  • Attend the meetings and sign approval for excavation/digging permits related IT and Infrastructure.

  • Participate in the planning stages of future IT network infrastructure projects.

  • Assist Site Manager in planning department budget and infrastructure department staffing.

  • Review and update facility drawings to Facility Manager.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Five (5) years’ experience working as a cable technician.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of inside and outside cable plant infrastructure, engineering, installation, and testing ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of NFPA / OSHA / ANSI-EIA-TIA standards and practices.

  • Excellent customer service skills and demeanor.

  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations.

  • Maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT and MS Access.

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.

  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.

  • Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information to a diverse group of customers.

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED.

  • Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.

  • BICSI Registered Technician.

  • Security Vetting: Already possess a US Government issued security clearance or Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract.

  • Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.

  • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

DESIRED:

  • Training equivalent to a Technical Associate’s Degree or Certificate.

  • Broad background in communication electronics and cabling infrastructure.

  • Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.

  • Experience working with Amentum /PAE.
