Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers to ensure best overall value, quality standards and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders if appropriate.

  • Implement best purchasing practices internally and externally through the supply chain. Ensure compliance to all policies. Initiate and lead cost savings initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain a high-performance culture in the function, resulting in continued success meeting functional KPIs/metrics and improved levels of customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Control purchasing and warehouse department budgets.

  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.

  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials; coordinate with cross functional teams and other Department's as necessary to roll out new products.

  • Manage and direct the Company’s procurement process by identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Identify vendor opportunities and challenges and partner with the departments and branches to ensure appropriate resolution

  • Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.

  • Collaborate internally to ensure accurate forecasting and inventory planning.

  • Manage and direct the Warehouse staff by ensuring proper inventory levels, storage, retrieval and timely delivery of goods; shipment loading and transferring, document recording data entry into system.

  • Coordinate purchasing activities with Warehouse activities, optimize spare parts inventory level, i.e. vendor stocking, consignment agreements, just in time delivery.

  • Negotiate cost effective purchase contracts with vendors (pricing, availability, terms/conditions and value-added services). Evaluate and select best price and availability without sacrificing quality or service.

  • Manage and maintain an internal MRP system to support Company manufacturing needs.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a supplier relationship and evaluation process to measure effective supplier performance and compliance.

  • Support goods and services needs for internal customers (branch network).

  • Travel to branch and vendor locations as needed to develop strong vendor/branch relationships.

  • Responsible for managing relationships and negotiating with key suppliers at a senior and strategic level.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the operation.

Other Competencies:

  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to interact with company representatives (Corporate and Branch level) and vendors in a satisfactory manner that results in the cooperation of all parties.

  • Creates and communicates the vision, strategic thinking, coaches direct reports, leads collaboratively, embraces and leads change, manages conflict, holds people accountable, financial acumen.

  • Strong working knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting techniques as well as operational systems and warehouse management.

  • Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.

  • Excellent MS Office (Excel, MSQuery, Access, PowerPoint) capabilities required.

  • Strong written communication and presentation skills required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages employees in the Materials Department and Warehouse Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interview, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
