The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director, Recruiting and Admissions. The Assistant Director is responsible for the operations surrounding effective recruiting and admissions for the department’s academic programs, to include the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Dual Bachelor of Science (BS)/DPT, Dual DPT/Master of Public Health (MPH) and the Dual DPT/ Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD). This role will follow enrollment trends of DPT programs globally and maintain a solid database of prospective avenues for highly qualified applicants. In addition, this role will identify and build relationships with external constituents, alumni and institutions for future partnerships and opportunities. The Assistant Director should have a demonstrated record of success in admissions/enrollment preferably in higher education, and preferably experience with generating and delivering a marketing and recruitment plan. The incumbent must support the mission of the university and be motivated to promote the growth and development of its programs. This person must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups of individuals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position requires access to personal transportation for travel greater than 50% of time. Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends and travel for recruitment and professional development. Exempt regular staff receive a generous paid leave package that includes over 4 weeks of vacation accrued each year, 16 paid holidays, 3 personal leave, unlimited accrual of sick time, and comprehensive health insurance; professional learning and development programs; tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any University System of Maryland school; and flexible work schedules and teleworking options (if applicable per job). /UMB is Ranked Among the Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes 2022 & 2023./ * * PRIMARY DUTIES: * * Direct the recruitment activities to support the academic programs with the goal of ensuring an incoming class of desired quality and demographic diverse students: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Dual Bachelor of Science (BS)/DPT, Dual DPT/Master of Public Health (MPH) and the Dual DPT/ Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD). * Plan applicant outreach and other recruiting activities; target top candidates and coordinate campus visits and other events. * Oversee student application process, respond to student inquiries. * Expertise in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) system and department and accreditation admissions policies and procedures. * Coordinate the admissions process with registration and records to ensure seamless transition from applicant to student. * Analyze enrollment trends and make recommendations on new strategies and initiatives to increase student satisfaction, requiring knowledge of the field, understanding of program goals & objectives, student needs & interests. * Ensure communications and marketing materials are up to date and available. * Ensure we are meeting the admissions standards set by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), our accrediting body. * Manage student scholarship process from application to award and stewardship. * Maintain connections with graduating students creating an active alumni relationship. * Serve as primary contact with external network of schools, associations, organizations as required. * Other duties as assigned. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
