American Heart Association Region Senior Director, Strategic Relationships in Beaumont, Texas

We are hiring for a Senior Director, Strategic Relationships, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Executive/Business Operations in the SouthWest (SW) region.

This is a remote position located preferably within the borders of the SW region, but not required. The SW region includes the states of AR, CO, NM, OK, TX, and WY.

In this position, you will be responsible for growing and driving the volunteer leadership and relationships within the region. You will be responsible for collaborating with the region and market leadership to engage and deepen strategic relationships and growing a robust volunteer development process. Working alongside the EVP, Associate EVP, and other region leadership to plan and carry out the region board meetings, lead volunteer committees, handle logistics of the meetings, and ongoing engagement of the volunteers as well as the local board meeting coordination.

Responsibilities

Here are some of the job duties:

  • Collaborate with Southwest (SW) leadership to devise strategies and find opportunities for developing volunteer talent within the region. This effort supports the organization’s mission and fundraising goals. As a resource and leader, you’ll be responsible for volunteer relationships across field campaigns.

  • Engage with the regional Board volunteer leadership, handling tasks such as meeting content development, logistics, meaningful communication, and board member engagement between meetings. This includes coordinating with the nomination committee and ensuring effective volunteer development.

  • Collaborate with SW leadership to establish a volunteer pipeline for national, regional, and local boards and committees. Ensure that major employers are involved in this growth process. Identify key volunteers and build engagement plans and career paths to align them with the organization—from local to national levels.

  • Work with local, regional, and national leadership to design volunteer development and engagement plans that foster closer connections between volunteers and the organization.

  • Implement a feedback process to regularly capture input from critical volunteers, informing volunteer communication strategies.

  • Lead the development of consistent and approved local board meetings for our local boards. This ensures quality and engagement at the local level while maintaining a unified voice across volunteer levels within the region.

  • Additionally, assist with other duties and projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years successful experience in non-profit fundraising, volunteer management or similar experience.

  • 3 years of managerial experience ideally with a sales team or fundraising team in a similar organization.

  • Proven strength building and leveraging relationships at all levels both internally and externally.

  • Proven record of initiative and working in a nebulous environment (gray space.

  • Solid understanding of how to engage and work with high-level volunteers and donors.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and lead project teams.

  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people around the organization, including senior executives.

  • Ability to present ideas and concepts live or via multimedia in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% local and overnight stay.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $72,400 to $101,600. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
