Nike Director, Brand Creative Direction Mens/Kids APLA in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

APLA (Asia Pacific and Latin America) Brand Creative is looking for a Director, Brand Creative Direction for the Mens/Kids Studio who will lead a multidisciplinary team across Narrative, Art Direction, Design, Writing, Brand Experience, Studio Management and Production across Men’s Sports and Lifestyle. They will be responsible to drive creative ideas and collaboration across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the team deliver integrated creative against the seasonal strategy. They are experienced people managers and mentor multiple designers, writers and build opportunities for individual development, performance management, recognition, and rewards. WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Work with the Senior Creative Director of the APLA Studio, to develop the Men & Kids Sports & Lifestyle creative point of view on key projects, all the way from creating new concept, extending Global concepts, visual direction, to application in must win channels and platforms.

  • Manage the Mens’/Kids’ Studio, providing leadership, inspiration, mentorship, support and direction. Encourage excellence, ambition, x-functional collaboration, and team spirit.

  • Support territory teams to drive brand awareness and deliver strong consumer engagement through creative deliverables.

  • Drive all aspects of art direction and narrative for Mens/Kids Studio for key projects, ensuring our content is outstanding, always on-brand, diverse, contemporary, desirable and within agreed budgets.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with agencies, photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, designers, working strategically with other leads in the business to ensure the strongest approach to external talent.

  • Keep up to date with emerging trends and insights in sports, sports culture, fashion, design, film, art, media and technology as relevant to Nike and the design team.

  • Collaborate with the studio manager and producers to lead teams through creative concept process and projects.

  • Ensure all projects are well-planned, creatively exceptional, and delivered on-time.

  • Identify needs for training and development, coaching and mentoring.

  • Ensure teams function effectively to achieve Nike's business objectives.

  • Collaborate with the larger studio team to critically evaluate the creative process and continually improve it.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will partner with the Senior Creative Director of APLA Studio, your studio teammates, inclusive of Women’s Studio, Digital Marketing, Retail Design, Brand Voice & Initiatives and Geo/City Brand Creative Counterparts. You will manage around 5 people.

They will also partner with counterparts in the Global Mens’ & Kids’ Studios, your counterparts in other Geos, APLA Brand Marketing teams, Brand Planning, Media, and Digital Marketing teams.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in design or related field, or combination of relevant education, experience, and training.

  • Minimum 15+ years leading concept, design and art direction in a branded content, agency, editorial or marketing environment.

  • Understanding and passion for Sports including but not limited to Football (soccer), Basketball, Running, Tennis, Sports Culture, Style, Fashion, and/or Editorial landscape is a plus.

  • Great people-manager and mentor, with a knack and passion for helping everyone on the team-especially senior-level and entrepreneurial talent-to grow, improve, succeed, and advance toward collective and individual goals.

  • Proven depth of experience in commissioning and directing design, photography, and moving image in digital and experience environments. Along with design and art-direction experience in O2O environments.

  • Existing relationships with relevant freelance photographers, directors, stylists, etc.

  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge across broadcast, online, print, and experiential design, with a solid understanding of content platforms.

  • Proficiency in creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Figma.

  • Astute attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.

  • Experience leading a design studio and talent across various locations preferred.

  • A sense of humor, positivity, and an entrepreneurial spirit!
