Citigroup IT Product Owner in Belfast, United Kingdom

Markets Business Controls Technology develops and enhances an extensive portfolio of applications helping the business managing the operational risk in the company and establish appropriate controls in trading. We support traders, salespeople, risk managers, financial controllers and operations staff located all over the globe. Our portfolio has multiple systems providing market controls, alerts disposition, regulatory reporting and controls inventory applications.

In the Markets Business Controls Technology team, the role of the Product Owner is pivotal in bridging the gap between business users and technology experts. This involves facilitating clear and concise communication in collaboration with the Technology team. The primary goal of this role is to manage and guide the development of our tech products according to the business needs. This includes steering the product requirements, managing stakeholder expectations, and delivering on-time, on-scope product updates. The Product Owner serves as a critical conduit of information and expertise, enabling effective decision-making and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the tech product portfolio in the risk and controls area of investment banking.

  • Collaborate with the tech team to ensure that the product development aligns with the business needs and requirements.

  • Serve as an effective communication bridge between senior stakeholders, User Experience team, and the tech team, ensuring clear and precise conveyance of needs and expectations.

  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring that all items are appropriately prioritized and prepared for sprint planning.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations regarding product development, delivery timelines, and scope.

  • Continually assess the risk and control landscape, identifying areas for product improvement or new product opportunities.

  • Provide direction and technical leadership on complex, high-impact projects and in all phases of the development and implementation process.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in business analysis, systems analysis, product owner, product manager, or equivalent role.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tech products, ideally within a banking or financial services context.

  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, especially with senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; background in Engineering preferred.
