Amazon Ops Design Engineer in Bellevue, Washington

Join the Operations Design Team as we use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models to develop the next generation of world-class fulfillment centers! We specialize in the designs surrounding automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high speed manufacturing. If you have strong technical problem-solving abilities and are looking to be challenged in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment, then this job is for you!

Present and lead Design reviews with stakeholders. Manage revision/ document control for composite plans, gain approvals from Leadership for designs, release drawing plans to internal and external vendors like Architects, IT contractors, GCs, MHE and racking vendors for implementation.

Manage aspects of design project management like schedule, stakeholder, communication, risk and quality management. Responsible for document management and revision control.

Other responsibilities will include continuous improvement projects within Ops Design and also within EP&A, communications with wide ranging stakeholders, compliance with internal drafting standards.

Candidate should be able to work in a highly ambiguous and dynamic and fast paced environment. Should have strong project management skills, verbal and written communications, attention to detail. Candidate should be self- motivated and a self starter who is able to accurately prioritize work in a fast and complex environment.

Key job responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of design integration of architectural backgrounds, production and process equipment layouts with operational space design and planning of distribution centers.

Lead, manage and coordinate all aspects of design program management like schedule, stakeholder communication, risk and quality, document and revision management.

Present and lead design reviews with stakeholders. Manage approvals and release full design packages for execution and implementation.

Provide coordination support between internal and external departments.

Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.

Facilitate process improvement initiatives.

Travel 10% to interact with internal and external business.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of program or project management experience

  • 2+ years of design development experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam and BIM 360 tools

  • Experience working cross functionally with other design and engineering teams

  • Experience leading design reviews and coordination

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in requirement gathering and ability to write clear and detailed requirement document

  • 2+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to leadership

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $107,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
