Red Hat Associate Manager - Software Engineering in Bengaluru, India

Job Summary:

The Red Hat Ansible Networking team is looking for an Associate Manager, Software Engineering to join us to help grow and guide a team of engineers. In this role, you will be a part of the Ansible Networking engineering team and work in close collaboration with peers often in multiple geographies to help to create and support multiple Ansible collections for the Red Hat Ansible Networking for Ansible Automation Platform. The Manager would be required to encourage the team to do upstream development in Ansible Community as well as drive downstream effort to make the collections part of the Automation hub for customer’s success. You will be responsible for guiding the team to grow and sustain the pace of Ansible Networking growth, releases of Ansible collections on Automation hub, work with Product management and execute on the strategy for Ansible Networking, You'll ensure a good balance between product and community participation of engineers, ensuring contributions to both. As a Manager, you will be responsible for managing the team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Lead a global engineering Networking team to design / develop / deliver / support Ansible Collections features and releases, manage resource planning and allocation, and provide team leadership

Create an open, diverse, and inclusive team environment

Coach and provide feedback to associates, and support their career development and growth

Plan sprints with the Engineering team and plan releases for Networking collections.

Contribute to defining the strategy, working with product management to prioritize and align feature plans to the business objectives, schedule and communicate these externally

Closely collaborate with other engineering, product management, design, documentation, quality engineering, sales, support, and marketing teams

Work with the Engineering team to ensure all collections are tested upstream and downstream and ensure quality content collections release.

Focus on customer requirements and use cases to guide and supervise the efforts of the team to release product versions and resolve defects, in close coordination with peers.

Work with cross-functional managers and teams across support, quality assurance, documentation, and other areas to create and deliver a high-quality service.

Work with the open-source community and maintain a constant feedback loop from the community, and then address the feedback internally.

Represent team’s work internally and within the upstream community.

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

6+ years of significant software development experience

Previous experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and managing software development projects as a team lead/ manager

Demonstrated ability to apply technology to business problems

Experience successfully leading through ambiguity and change

Leadership style that is approachable, collaborative, inclusive, respectful

Ability to deep-dive into architectural and technical discussions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience working with customers or in customer situations

Experience in working with product management

Familiar with agile or scrum methodologies

Familiarity with Enterprise Software development

The following are considered a plus:

Understanding of Enterprise Networking technologies and experience with related technologies

Understanding of open source development models

Prior participation in open source community software development or leadership
