Position Overview

The role of the Principal Manager, IT Project Management (Agile) is to support Agile governance and manage a team of PMs and Scrum/Agile leads in implementing corporate IT initiatives, internal & cross-team initiatives and projects, data management and application development initiatives. The Principal Manager is responsible for ensuring the design, development, implementation and rollout of new platforms and systems are carried out in an efficient manner.

The Principal Manager is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of the Agile/PMO team within the DAI Technology department. Through the application of best practices, this team ensures that IT projects are managed to deliver results and that resources are used effectively to meet the strategic priorities of the business while maintaining high-quality operational performance.

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work in the United States without sponsorship. This position also requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally on an as needed basis.

This position will close on Tuesday, June 25.

Responsibilities

Enterprise and Internal IT Initiatives

  • Assist business and product owners to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business initiatives in collaboration with senior management and business stakeholders.

  • Manage project risks and issues and provide budget and schedule control and updates.

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end with project plans, associated documentation and activities.

  • Ensure project management documentation is kept up to date and stakeholders are informed of progress.

  • Build multi-disciplinary teams required to meet business demands, including surge capacities when needed on critical projects.

  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.

  • Assist technical leads in managing relationships with external resources and service providers (system integrators and consultants on IT projects).

  • Co-ordinate with other IT project managers to establish sound project management practices for managing projects of varying size, applying appropriate project management principles based on the complexity, size, and business priority of each project.

  • Assist project teams and technical leads in resource allocation and prioritization of IT projects.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of any project.

IT Standards and Documentation

  • Collaborate with the IT managers to ensure that a standard set of tools, documents and procedures are developed, maintained, and routinely executed by the development teams.

  • Work with team members to establish and report on metrics used to gauge project and portfolio health.

Management of Agile and Scrum Activities

  • Support development teams, business product owners and business analysts in implementing agile practices and ceremonies (sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives).

  • Assist product owners in decomposing and documenting work in Azure DevOps, create queries/reports and follow team progress, lead scrum ceremonies, advise technical teams on best practices or problem resolution, support Agile PMO in developing documentation and guides.

  • Provide reporting on project and scrum meetings.

  • Support business owners and their processes as needed.

Team Management

  • Mentor and guide internationally diverse team of DAI Project and Program Managers in implementation of agile practices and principles that foster collaboration, shared understanding and continuous improvement of DAI technology implementations and development projects.

  • Create a collaborative and open environment for the team to support their professional development and creativity.

  • Set clear expectations for the team, communicate goals, and ensure that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities. Identify areas for improvement and recognize outstanding work.

  • Provide annual and monthly metrics on DAI Tech team performance and achievements in delivering value to the business through implementation of Agile practice.

  • Provide guidance in agile process improvements.

  • Establish a way to report on and manage DAI Technology Portfolio with measurable outcomes.

Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade P7: Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated experience in IT project/program management.

  • Demonstrated experience with AGILE project management methodologies, including Scrum.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement high-level program initiatives.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with teams across multiple disciplines to produce results in a timely manner.

  • Ability to handle conflicts or disagreements between team members, encourage open and respectful communication, and work toward a resolution.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.

  • Professional proficiency with various project management tools including Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.

  • Demonstrated experience with system integration and data migration efforts.

  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of budgetary control and resource allocation procedures, risk, and issue management.

  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.

  • Able to work as part of a decentralized team with minimal oversight.

  • Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients, and tailor communication style to diverse audiences.

  • Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • *Based in one of the following U.S. locations where DAI is registered: District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington.

Preferred, but not required:

  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification

  • Scrum Master Certification

  • Professional working proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, Russian, or Arabic preferred).

  • Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates, or may wish to operate, barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $118,614 to $145,863. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
