The Binghamton University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds that further the purpose and mission of Binghamton University. Staff members and volunteers working on behalf of the Foundation, foster and maintain partnerships with alumni, parents, friends and members of the University community.

This position is with the Accounting Services Department of the Binghamton University Foundation (Foundation). The department handles the accounting for the Foundation and its six affiliates, along with serving as the bookkeeper for seven other campus entities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Analysis and reconciliation - A/R, A/P, various revenue and expense accounts, State and IFR accounts. Reconciliation of vendor reporting for IRS Form 1099.

  • General Ledger - Monthly preparation of recurring journal entries, importing of annual budgets. Daily review of Foundation deposits and various imports. Review of stock donations. Quarterly preparation of journal entries for fee assessments, endowment portfolio activity and investment accounts. Management of scholarship codes, scholarship imports and annual transfers.

  • Accounts Payable - Importing of vendors and preparation of vouchers/invoices. IRS Form 1099 reconciliation and adjustments. Cash management adjustments for fees, transfers, interest, credit card payments, etc., and reporting as needed.

  • Accounts Receivable - For one of the bookkeeping clients: administration of contract course programs. For the Foundation and affiliates: administration of loan programs and monthly/quarterly invoicing for services provided. Adding new clients, billing, fee assessment, reconciliation, statements, review, and analysis as needed.

  • Banking - Daily review of bank accounts, monthly bank reconciliations, and recording of bank fees, transfers, ACH/EFT deposits, and other items as needed. Administration of credit card programs, including oversight of activity, online cardholder changes and assistance as needed.

  • Reporting - Monthly reporting to campus report contacts, annual donor information, annual IRS Form 1099 preparation and submission, and additional reports as requested. Financial and Budget Reports for Board/Committee meetings and bookkeeping clients. Creation of new reports and queries as needed. Continuous database maintenance of reports and report contacts.

  • Other - Primary person responsible for administration of accounting software, Blackbaud's Financial Edge. Updates and reporting of the gift annuity program utilizing GiftWrap software. Audit preparation. Answering email/phone inquiries, attending meetings, and other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business related field

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting or business-related field

  • Efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in not-for-profit accounting/auditing

  • Experience with BlackBaud's Financial Edge or related accounting software

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65,000 - $68,000 annually. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
