Within Digital, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) team plays a critical role in driving the Digital transformation: we set and implement the overall BT Digital strategy and plans and we are the engine room driving the outcomes required for our customers. We work across multiple customer units (e.g., Consumer, Enterprise, Global divisions) covering needed updates to products, customer journeys, platforms, 3rd parties, strategic partners, IT architecture and innovation.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester or London. The role will follow a hybrid module of 3 days a week in the office and 2 days working remote.

What you’ll be doing

  • The Strategic Business Planning Manager will develop key relationships with data owners BT Source, BT Finance & Architecture to influence the decision-making process and improve downstream data for BT Digital.

  • Coordinates a large-scale automation solution to complex Vendor Contract & Business cases using a variety of technologies and techniques. Data processing and engineering, machine learning, simulation and optimisation techniques will be needed to manage support teams in the software asset management space.

  • Leads rigorous monitoring reviews across the full portfolio of project plans, supporting the provision of sufficient project management support and insight into business units.

  • Contributes to discussion and debate across BT Group on key strategic issues, generating ideas and using a combination of facts, judgment, and personal impact to build credibility and influence outcomes.

  • Work closely with Governance leads regularly assessing priority risk threats and effectiveness of controls, crisis identification / response / recovery plans and capabilities, both internal and at critical third-party vendors / supplier organisations, provides guidance on effectively managing the risk of ineffective capabilities, and influences decision making by educating business stakeholders on the risk.

  • This role must deliver business impact and solve stakeholder needs.

You'll have the following skills and experience

  • Project Planning and Execution: Ability to plan, execute, and manage data improvement projects.

  • Systems Analysis and Interpretation: Proficiency in analysing system capability, interpreting results, and providing actionable insights.

  • Data Quality Management: Techniques and tools for ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.

  • Data Integration: Skills in integrating data from various sources and ensuring seamless data flow.

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and make reasoned decisions.

  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying data issues and developing effective solutions.

  • Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and identify discrepancies.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Business Process Understanding: Insight into how data impacts business processes and decision-making.

  • Change Management: Skills to lead and manage organisational change related to data improvement initiatives.
