What you will do –

Responsible for proactively collaborating across the finance community to drive quality financial reporting and statutory reporting. Work with local finance team and Share Service finance center to proactively lead on key accounting compliance activities, including month end, statutory financial statements, tax compliance and a variety of other interesting ad-hoc finance activities.

Networks and relationships

  • Build/ foster/ facilitate strong relationships across Share service center to ensure robust core processes. Build and maintain a robust culture of process improvement – drive the understanding of the need for improvement and enthusiasm within the wider team.

Financial Results and Reporting

  • Take the lead in driving quality financial reporting, accounting, and tax compliance in the NOLA region. Key role in interacting with various senior stakeholders to deliver on our financial reporting and compliance obligations.

  • Review Income Statements and Balance Sheets to drive high quality of financial reporting across NOLA entities. Review key balance sheet reconciliations and internal balance sheet reporting requirements.

  • Lead statutory financial statements process across multiple entities. Collaborate with Costa Rica finance centre, including review of financial statements and workings to ensure high quality financial statements are prepared and filed. Lead local annual impairment assessment process.

  • Provide local technical accounting support as required, on topics such as revenue recognition and lease accounting. Own relationships with our key internal and external accounting advisors and stakeholders. Leadership of internal and external audit processes, be a key point of escalation.

Tax Compliance

  • Lead a variety of internal and external tax compliance activities. Own relationships with our key internal and external advisors and stakeholders. Drive high quality accurate external tax filings through comprehensive reviews and upskilling of internal teams.

  • Ensure high quality compliance with all internal tax reporting requirements.

Local Internal Control

  • Maintain monthly follow up of Stryker Internal Controls Obligations (including but not limited to SOX Narratives). Keep close and recurring contact with Latin America Internal Controls organization ensuring alignment of local initiatives with LatAm´s Internal Controls. Diagnose and identify improvement and simplification opportunities to ensure adherence of Internal Controls

What you need –

• Required: Professional accounting certification, at least 5 years post qualification experience, experience leading and delivering Colombian statutory accounts and tax compliance activities and practical experience of using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level required.
